My beloved, the sandstorm represents tribulations, rumors, or strong envy. The Mu'awwidhat are divine protection. The sand turning into rain is the nullification of the plot and its transformation into mercy, relief, and the washing away of worries. Interpretations from major scholars of the Sunni tradition: - Ibn Sirin: The sandstorm is accumulated worries and plots. Reciting the Mu'awwidhat with certainty is divine protection. The sand turning into pure rain indicates the destruction of enemies, the nullification of magic, and the change of hardship into ease and provision. - Al-Nabulsi: The suffocating dust is malice, envy, and constriction in provision. The Mu'awwidhat are strength in religion and reliance. The rain of mercy confirms God's victory for the dreamer, the repulsion of the envious's plots, the relief of his distress, and the refreshment of his soul. - Ibn Shahin: Whoever destroys a storm with the Quran and it turns into rain, will be protected from the evils of men and jinn, calamities will be averted from him and his family, and security, tranquility, and abundant provision will settle in his life. The Quran and the rain are the nullification of this harm, and the return of calm, love, and complete stability to her home, washing away her sorrows. - Divorced or widowed woman: The sandstorm is the greed of people's talk. The Mu'awwidhat and the rain are a decisive divine protection, confirming the repulsion of the oppressors' plots, granting her victory, and a pure, refreshed life. - Single man or young man: The storm is unfair competitors or traps at work. The Quran and the rain herald the emergence of truth, the foiling of plots, and his success in overcoming crises to rise with strength, integrity, and steadfastness. - Married man: The storm represents successive crises in his work or suffocating debts. The Mu'awwidhat and the refreshing rain are a glad tiding of divine intervention to save him, settle his debts, and protect his family from any loss or plot.
